The basic routine
Remove laces. Knock off loose dirt. Use a soft brush with warm water and a little mild soap. Work in small circles, wipe with a damp cloth, and air-dry away from direct heat.

- Leather: mild soap + soft cloth; condition occasionally to prevent cracking.
- Suede: keep it dry — use a suede brush and eraser, never soak it.
- Mesh & knit: soft brush and gentle soap; avoid scrubbing hard.
- Canvas: tolerates a firmer brush; a magic eraser works on rubber midsoles.
Whitening midsoles
A soft brush with a little baking soda paste lifts yellowing. For stubborn soles, a rubber eraser sponge does wonders.
Storage
Keep pairs out of direct sunlight (it yellows soles and fades uppers). Use shoe trees or lightly stuff with paper to hold shape, and store in a cool, dry place.
